“Everything we need is already within us. We just have to learn how to access it.” — Dr. Faust Ruggiero
On a recent episode of the Beyond Your Horizon podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Faust Ruggiero, author of The Fix Your Internal Language Handbook. Our conversation was rich with truth, compassion, and practical wisdom about how the way we talk to ourselves shapes not only our thoughts but our entire reality.
Dr. Ruggiero has spent over four decades counseling others and has written six books in his Fix Yourself Empowerment Series. Each one is designed to guide readers through personal growth with short, powerful lessons and actionable steps. His mission is simple but transformative — to help people stop the destructive inner chatter and create a language of self-love, clarity, and peace.
🧭 The Voice Within
We all talk to ourselves. That inner conversation—our internal language—creates the lens through which we see the world. When our self-talk is full of fear, criticism, and worry, we drain our energy and lose connection to the truth of who we are. But when we consciously choose a language rooted in kindness and faith, we begin to see new possibilities open before us.
Dr. Ruggiero calls this voice the “internal persona”—the version of ourselves that lives beneath the surface. It’s the person we’re always talking to when no one else is around. The key is realizing that we have the power to shape that persona. We can retrain our thoughts, redirect negative loops, and create an internal environment that supports our highest version of self.
He shared a simple three-step formula for when those intrusive thoughts won’t stop:
Stop the negative thought and name it.
Replace it with a positive truth.
Develop that positive thought into something stronger.
It’s not about denying what we feel—it’s about choosing which thoughts deserve our energy.
💫 Faith Over Fear
One of the most resonant parts of our conversation centered on fear. I shared how, in my own life, I’ve sometimes allowed fear to drive my actions—fear of failing, fear of disappointing others, fear of not being enough. Dr. Ruggiero reminded me that the antidote to fear is faith.
When we act from faith rather than fear, we slow down, breathe, and allow divine timing to take over. As he said, “I replaced my fear with my faith.” That’s a practice of surrender—of learning to trust the process and rest in the knowledge that we are guided and equipped.
🧠 Intellect Over Emotion
One of the 52 processes in his program is called “Overy”—intellect over emotion. It doesn’t mean suppressing emotions; it means stepping back before reacting. Gather the facts. Then let emotion follow reason. This process builds self-mastery.
He explained that wisdom isn’t just having information—it’s the ability to apply that information in healthy, consistent ways. Or in his words: “Knowledge is not power. The power comes from applying what you know.”
❤️ The Path to Pure Love
Our conversation moved beautifully into the connection between the mind, body, spirit, and emotions. Dr. Ruggiero described how peace comes when these four elements are in balance. This balance creates what he calls pure love—a love that flows from the soul and expects nothing in return.
That kind of love shows up as compassion, humility, forgiveness, and gratitude. It’s the foundation of every spiritual practice and the heart of all transformation.
As we talked, I realized how much this mirrors my own morning practice—beginning each day with gratitude, prayer, and forgiveness. When we stay rooted in that vibration, life begins to flow with more ease.
🪞Speak Life to Yourself
Words carry energy. What we say to ourselves determines how we show up in the world. Dr. Ruggiero’s book reminds us that our internal language directs our external reality. Whether through affirmations, prayer, or mindful reflection, we have the power to rewrite the script.
Every “I AM” statement is a declaration of identity.Every thought is a seed planted in the garden of the mind. And every act of self-awareness is a step toward liberation.
So take a moment today to listen to your inner voice. If what you hear doesn’t sound like love—change the language.
